Rothenburg ob der Tauber
The former “Imperial Free City” Rothenburg ob der Tauber is world famous for its well-preserved medieval old city with its half-timbered buildings and numerous narrow, winding streets leading to small, tucked away squares.
The city wall has survived in its entirety and together with the town’s unique architecture, creates a romantic atmosphere that attracts visitors from around the globe.
Rothenburg also stages numerous events and activities throughout the year, in an effort bring the colorful history of the region to life. These include: The Meistertrunk Festival marking Pentecost; The Imperial City Festival on the first weekend of September; The Reiterlsmarkt Christmas Market; or, the Topper Theater at a former Dominican convent, with performances from June through August. ![]() |
